Key Interviewer Will Ask – Confession by a HR Manager

The reason why a telephone will be conducted is because the questions that asked to the candidates will be able to filter out those candidates who are not suitable, the key questions that interviewer will ask are the following:

1-    Which company are you currently with? This is to determine whether you are currently available and to test whether your resume stated is the same.

2-    Why do you want to leave the current company? A typical question, never ever says anything negative about the current employer, if you do, your telephone interview opportunity will be gone.

3-    What is your expected salary? Human resource personnel who ask this type of question will give you the signal that they are a “budget” employer, which means that the employer had already be given a budget for this position, if your answer is above their pre-determine range, they will not ask you for an interview, do be careful about your answers to this question.

Help others find a Great job, set up your own recruitment agency today!

This question is very tricky and there is no right or wrong answer, if they were to ask you this question, you know that this information will be the deciding factor on whether they will ask you for a face-to-face interview. Hence, you should say that you will need to determine the job scope and responsibility during the face-to-face interview, if they were to “force” you to give them a figure, always give them a range rather than a specific figure will do.

There will be time where they will ask you what your minimum expected salary is, as mentioned above, do not commit a figure until you really have to. A human resource personnel who FORCE you to reveal your minimum expectation shows what kind of company they are hence if such incident do happens, it will be best to avoid joining this company. Even if you were to be successfully join this company, chances are they you will not be happy because it is a budget company who is inflexible and always follow the books.

4-    What do you do in your current job? This question purpose is to ensure that your current experience is what they are seeking for, hence, if you have the job description of the advertisement of that job you apply, try to answer the question leaning towards the job descriptions itself!  It will be a safer bet…..Always answer this question towards the job that you apply for….if they are looking for a sales personnel, describe your job duties leaning towards sales jobs, if you are currently helping your boss to do paperwork, it is not point to talk about it because it simply does not trigger their interest at all!

5-    This job requires you to work long hours and weekends, is it alright for you? This question is a test to see whether you are committed or not, yes it may be truth that you may need to work long hours but if your answer is not able to work long hours, then your opportunity will be wasted. Always answer that you are able to go accordingly to request, after the face-to-face interview then you make the judgments to see whether it is worth to join the company.
