My recruiter told me since I have a GED and 15 college credits that I can qualify as someone who has a High School Diploma. Which means I can score a minimum of 50 on my ASVAB, BUT I can only get a job that they give me. I had to get a waver for a ticket I received 3 years ago and he told me that it's fine. I took my ASVAB and didn't score so well, so he closed my file and gave me back all of my papers. He told me that even if I scored the minimum of 50 on my ASVAB since I need a waver, and I have a GED my 15 college credits don't matter and that I wouldn't qualify to enlist. He then told me that I would need a higher grade and I would ONLY get the job he needs to fill. I'm a little confused because he switched up the requirements. Can anyone tell me if this recruiter was being honest?

but anyways I've just been training my shot, trying to get into shape so if I join, basic won't be messed up. anyways if I have had past depression, will that come up? what about eye sight? because I wear glasses and I don't know if I'll be able to even join.

Hey if anyone with any experience can give me some info:

I am set on enlisting and becoming a 31B (Military Police). I was just wondering how often army recruits get their first choice of MOS because I know you have to list a few. Also is 31B an MOS that is in need by the army as of now?

  16. February 13, 2017 at 2:45 am —

Hey Archie, now that you're a recruiter and better knowledged about the army in a whole and the programs it offers, could I ask you some questions?

Just look sharp, talk smart and act cool and you will do great! Imagine recruiting registered nurses who are in high demand and well paid to join the Army nurse corp to start out as a 2nd LT with less pay and no life. It was the worst assignment; the pay back was no deployment and graduate school, well worth it in the end.

  19. February 13, 2017 at 2:45 am —

My recruiter told me that recruiting, you gotta see it from a marketing pov

  20. February 13, 2017 at 2:45 am —

How often is the PT test?

  21. February 13, 2017 at 2:45 am —

dumb question: where are you an army recruiter?

  22. February 13, 2017 at 2:45 am —

Maybe you feel like Hoyt in the movie Training Day. It is nothing like you expected. Just be yourself, be honest and be careful who you trust. Better yet don't trust anyone. Don't say anything about anyone if you can't back it up later. ( I apologize about the double negative. it's a saying in Spanish) Drive on big Sargent drive on 63T-10 95-99. "Maintenance we've got juice. Maintenance we bust loose"

Keep your head up. You can do this. Take it a day at a time. Consider it a challenge. And when you overcome this you will be an even better person for it. Just don't lie to the recruits. Of all the people I ever met in the army, it was my recruiter that I definitely disliked. Maybe you can be the difference.
