First, the Serpent relies on a “crisis radar etched into its genes and extreme distrust.” An ordinary person facing a scam often starts from “belief,” moving toward “suspicion” as flaws are exposed. But the Serpent’s logic of thinking is precisely the opposite — its default setting toward the outside world is “absolute distrust.” When a seemingly perfect business opportunity, a tempting partnership project, or an overly enthusiastic stranger appears before them, an ordinary person may be immersed in a fantasy of profit, while a person with Serpent traits’ first reaction is vigilance and guardedness. When a scammer lies, no matter how perfectly the logic is woven, there will always be a trace left in a micro-expression, body language, a subtle change in speaking speed, or a contradictory detail. It measures everyone by the darkest side of human nature — although this makes it seem to lack warmth, in this real world full of interest exchange, this cold logic stripped of an emotional filter often lets one see the deepest logic of a scam at a glance.

However, when the Serpent judges a scam, there’s also a huge fatal blind spot — it easily “outsmarts itself, deceived by an even higher-level ‘going with the flow.’” Because the Serpent is too suspicious, sometimes a scammer deliberately leaves some clumsy flaws for the Serpent to discover.
