A BaZi consultation might reveal that your favorable Wood phase begins at age 35 and runs for two decades. That is strategic intelligence.

Qi Men Dun Jia is the tactical layer. It takes a specific moment in time and maps the energy landscape across nine palaces, showing you which door is open, which star is bright, which god supports your goal, and which direction holds opportunity. If BaZi says “your favorable phase starts at 35,” QMDJ tells you which specific day at age 35 to launch your business, which hour to sign the contract, and which direction to face during the meeting.

Building the Integrated Profile

The integration starts with a complete BaZi reading. Identify the Day Master, its strength, the Favorable Element, current Luck Pillar, and the Ten God profile. This is your client’s strategic dossier. Every QMDJ recommendation must be checked against this BaZi profile for alignment.

For example, if the BaZi profile shows a weak Fire Day Master with Wood as the Favorable Element, and the current Luck Pillar is a favorable Wood pillar, then QMDJ consultations should specifically look for Wood-friendly conditions: Wood doors, Wood stars, Wood-related directions. When the QMDJ chart aligns Wood energy with the client’s Wood Favorable Element, you have a doubly confirmed window. That is when you recommend action.

If the QMDJ chart shows favorable Wood energy but the BaZi Luck Pillar is unfavorable (say, a Metal pillar that controls Wood), the BaZi overrides QMDJ. The short-term tactical advantage is real, but the longer-term strategic climate argues for caution. For annual planning, start with the BaZi annual pillar (the year’s stem and branch) overlaid on the Luck Pillar and the birth chart. Is the year favorable or challenging? Which areas of life does it support? Then use QMDJ throughout the year for specific timing: when to schedule the annual planning retreat, when to launch quarterly initiatives, when to hold key reviews.

Case Study: Launching a Consulting Practice

A client came to me wanting to start a consulting practice. Her BaZi showed a strong Earth Day Master with Metal as a favorable element (Output, representing her expertise flowing outward). Her current Luck Pillar at age 38 was a Metal pillar, which meant the decade was highly favorable for building a knowledge-based business. Everything looked good strategically.

For the launch, we used QMDJ to select the best date. We cast hour charts for two possible launch dates she had in mind.
