How My Qi Men Dun Jia Teaching Journey Began | Qimen Awards 2026

In this deeply personal segment from Qimen Awards 2026, Master Dougles Chan shares the story behind the beginning of his Qi Men Dun Jia teaching journey — a story filled with hesitation, reflection, uncertainty, and ultimately decisive action.

Before starting to teach, there was doubt.

The question was simple, yet heavy:

“Will there be any students who want to learn from me?”

This was not a quick thought. It was a question pondered for six months. Six months of internal debate. Six months of reflection. Six months of chart plotting, analyzing timing, and weighing possibilities.

Even after refining the system and rebuilding foundations from scratch, uncertainty remained.

Timing matters in Qi Men Dun Jia.

Opportunity must align with readiness.

After months of internal “ding dong” — flipping between yes and no, going back and forth — a final decision was made:

“Let’s do it.”

If nobody signed up, that would be fine. It would simply mean the timing was not right. Another path could be taken. No attachment. No forcing.

A simple announcement was posted on Facebook:

The first Qi Men Dun Jia class would begin.

What happened next was unexpected.

Within a few weeks, more than 10 people signed up.

This was significant.

In the past, even established masters might struggle to gather five students within a year. But now, within weeks, double that number enrolled.

That moment signaled something important:

Perhaps it was the right time.

Encouraged by the response, a second class was announced the following month — October, followed by November.

The November class saw 20 students enroll.

Momentum was building.

Then the next batch opened.

Forty students signed up.

Forty.

From hesitation to expansion.

From uncertainty to validation.

From contemplation to commitment.

That was the true beginning of the Qi Men teaching journey.

This story is more than a growth narrative.

It reflects core principles of Qi Men Dun Jia:

• Timing must align with action
• Readiness must meet opportunity
• Doubt must eventually give way to decision
• Charts guide, but courage executes

Even with skill and knowledge, action requires bravery.

The journey did not begin with certainty.

It began with faith in preparation.

The months spent refining the system, rebuilding from scratch, and polishing fundamentals laid the groundwork for what followed. When timing aligned, response came naturally.

This is a powerful reminder for all practitioners and graduates at Qimen Awards 2026:

Sometimes the turning point is not in the chart.

It is in the decision to act.

Qi Men Dun Jia is a strategic system, but it does not remove human courage from the equation. It enhances clarity — but we must still step forward.

From the first 10 students to 20, then to 40, the expansion was not accidental. It reflected alignment between preparation, timing, and action.

Today, the academy stands as a result of that one decision made after six months of hesitation.

This sharing highlights that even teachers once questioned themselves.

Even masters once hesitated.

Even leaders once doubted.

What matters is the moment when doubt ends and action begins.

That is when journeys start.

And sometimes, that decision changes everything.
