How to Read a Qi Men Dun Jia Chart

Have you ever wondered how to read a Qi Men Dun Jia (奇门遁甲) chart — especially when it comes to understanding a person’s character and life stages?

Hi, my name is Mr. Dougles Chan, Grandmaster of Qi Men Dun Jia Academy International, and in this video, I’ll explain how you can start reading a Qi Men chart — also known as the Báo Chart or Destiny Chart — step by step, even if you’re a beginner.

🧩 Step 1: Look at the Date and Time

In Qi Men Dun Jia, every chart is generated based on the day and time of birth or event.
Inside the Qi Men app (or what I call the “Qi Men Polarities”), you’ll first locate the Day Stem — this is your reference point.

This Day Stem represents the person’s core self — their “main energy” or Life Palace.

📜 Step 2: Identify the Symbols

Once you’ve found the Day Stem, look at which Palace (box) it sits in.
Each palace contains several symbols — including:

Deities (Gods)

Stars

Doors

Stems

Each of these symbols carries specific meanings and energies.

For example:
⭐ Certain stars represent intelligence or leadership.
🚪 Certain doors reflect communication or creativity.
☯️ The deities show inner thoughts and emotional tendencies.

When you combine them, you get a deeper understanding of a person’s personality, strengths, and weaknesses.

🔄 Step 3: Link the Day Stem to the Night Palace

From the Day Palace, trace and connect the Day Stem to its corresponding Night Palace.
This is often called the transfer of energy or connection path in Qi Men Dun Jia.

Each Night Palace also contains its own set of symbols.
By comparing both, you can see how the person’s outer personality (Day) interacts with their inner character (Night).

This dual reading gives you a more complete and balanced picture of who they truly are.

🧭 Step 4: Understand the Two Stages of Life

In Qi Men Dun Jia, a person’s character and destiny evolve in two major stages:

1️⃣ Stage One (Before 35–40 years old) —
This represents the early life — how the person behaves, makes decisions, and reacts to challenges when they are still forming their identity.

2️⃣ Stage Two (After 35–40 years old) —
This stage reflects the mature self, after gaining life experience and facing major turning points.
Many people change dramatically after this age — their character, values, and even luck pattern shift.

By reading both stages from the chart, you can see how the person will evolve — who they are now, and who they are becoming.

💡 Step 5: Interpret the Personality

Once you understand the symbols inside each palace for both stages, you can begin to interpret:

Emotional patterns

Decision-making style

Communication behavior

Strengths and weaknesses

Compatibility with others

This method gives you a 360-degree personality analysis — not based on surface behavior, but on energetic blueprint.

🪶 Example of Application

Let’s say someone’s Day Stem sits in a palace with:

Open Door (representing opportunity and communication),

Chief Deity (representing leadership and clarity), and

Life Star (representing vitality and self-drive).

This tells us the person is naturally expressive, charismatic, and has strong leadership qualities — especially during their younger years.

But if, in the second stage, the palace changes to Death Door with a Moon Deity, their later years may show a more reflective, emotional, or inward personality.

That’s how powerful Qi Men Dun Jia can be in understanding people’s evolution.

🌿 Final Thoughts

Qi Men Dun Jia is not just a tool for prediction — it’s a tool for understanding human nature.
By reading the chart correctly, you can identify your own patterns, improve your relationships, and make better life decisions.
