What Is the Injury Door (伤门, Shang Men) in Qi Men Dun Jia?

The Injury Door (伤门, Shang Men) in Qi Men Dun Jia governs conflict, injury and competitive force. It is the door of contact sports, debt collection, hunting and arguments, useful when controlled, costly when accidental.

Cutting energy is only a problem in the hands of someone with nothing to cut.

Injury Door Meaning

Doors are not good and bad; they are tools, and the Injury Door is the sharpest tool in the drawer. It belongs to the Zhen palace in the east, thunder and spring wood, the energy of impact. Classically it covers injuries, but also collecting what is owed, competitive sport, hunting and confronting a problem head-on.

I tell students: if your chart question is a fair fight, the Injury Door can be your friend. Debt recovery, a lawsuit you must press, a tough negotiation where being soft loses money, these are its legitimate uses. For launches, health matters and relationships it is exactly the door you want to avoid, and its presence there reads as friction, sprains, cuts and quarrels.

Interpreting doors in context is a skill of combinations, and the combinations guide shows how a difficult door softens or hardens depending on its companions.

When to Use It, When to Avoid It

There is one place the Injury Door genuinely belongs: controlled aggression. Competitive sports, contests, hunting, martial training and the firm collection of debts all benefit from its cutting edge.

Everything soft suffers under it. Weddings, business openings, health matters, negotiations and travel should wait for another door, because the Injury Door wounds what it touches, and it will wound your own venture if you start one under it.

A Classical Note

In the classical texts the eight doors descend from the eight trigrams, which is why each door keeps a trigram’s palace and element. When its palace is disturbed by clashes, classical practitioners speak of the door being blocked or weakened, and date selection simply means choosing an hour where the same door sits in a friendlier palace. Same door, different house, different result.

Injury Door FAQ

Is the Injury Door always bad?

No. It is forceful and confrontational, ideal for collections, competition and direct confrontations, and unwelcome in gentle matters like health or partnership.
