Qi Men Dun Jia Training – Overview

Welcome to Qi Men Dun Jia. My name is Dougles Chan. I am a Qi Men Dun Jia master sifu. Today we are going to talk about things related to Qi Men Dun Jia, and in the next few lessons, I will actually share with you many things related to Qi Men Dun Jia for people who are very beginners and do not know anything about Qi Men Dun Jia.

If you are new and have no idea about what Qi Men Dun Jia is, what it can do to your life or even the people up beside you. Let me share with you some information that you can understand and apply to it. So, I will have a series of lessons related to Qi Men Dun Jia. You can watch it in your free time in the video and then if you have any questions, always let me know. You can message me or email me and see what I can do to help you. Let’s move forward in terms of this Qi Men Dun Jia.

It is actually Chinese metal physics and at least 5000 years old, easily more than that. It is one of the three most respected Chinese metaphysics in China. Last time, in the years of the dynasty, it was only used by the Emperor and Advisor. It was not allowed to be used by other people compared to the Emperor and Advisor because they did not want these people to use the information and the tool to go against them. So, if anybody were to get hold of this information or even apply it to themselves or to other people, they would be caught and behave badly. It was very strict at that time.

Qi Men Dun Jia is actually a tool that helps you make a decision, doing the right thing at the right time. Of course, this is a very general statement, but we just have to understand that doing the right thing and at the right time will make a lot of difference, especially in certain things like the stock market. If you were to buy the stock at the right time and the right day, when the trend is going up, you will make a profit and sell it at the right time and the right day. This will also make a lot of profit. On the other hand, if you do the wrong thing at the wrong time, even using the case study of the stock market, you will have a major situation and you will make a loss. It is very important to understand that in this context. Qi Men Dun Jia is always about doing the right thing at the right time. Of course, there are a lot of other applications for it, and we will explore this further.

It is a tool that gives you solutions. For example, if I use Qi Men Dun Jia to ask a specific question for this particular investment: Will I have a good outcome, will I be able to make a profit from this particular investment?, it is able to give you a solution. The answer is able to give you the particular things that you need to make the situation even better. Imagine that if the situation is not good, the investment will likely fail. There are also solutions within the Qi Men Dun Jia chart to tell you, to guide you on how to solve the problem. You see, Qi Men Dun Jia is not only about giving you the answer, but also giving you a solution to that aspect.

It is a tool that allows you to make better decisions. For example, when you get married but you are very unsure whether this marriage is going to start on a good note, you can always do a Qi Men Dun Jia chart. Plot a chart on it and it will give you some indication of whether this marriage will be a good marriage or not. Of course, on top of that, if you really want to go ahead with this marriage, it can even tell you a solution on how to make this marriage even much better.

One of the other applications is that it is able to decipher the characteristics of a person in X, we call it the Bazi reading (in Chinese, we call “Bazi X”). We are able to decipher this person’s character, who he is, what he is, and the character that he will possess during his lifetime. For example, whether this person has good leadership, whether he is able to sell, to talk well, to communicate well, whether he has internal conflict, so on and so forth.

We are able to decipher the information of this particular person and we are able to see what is in his journey of his life, what happens in his career, his business, his health, wealth, marriage, so on and so forth. Based on this Qi Men Dun Jia, the precision of this information is much more precise compared to many other Bazi readings. For example in the X Bazi, they only used 8 different variations in terms of deciphering a person’s life. However, in Qi Men Dun Jia, we use 64 ways or combinations to see the person’s life and the journey. It is much more complex and precise. This is why the accuracy can be so high that it actually scares a lot of people.

Next, the thing that Qi Men Dun Jia can do is also choosing the right time to do something. For example, if you want to send a proposal to your customer. 2 p.m or 3 p.m will be a good time. The time that you send the proposal is actually different in terms of the energy because different times have different energy, so you always choose the best time to do certain things. For example, you want to get married, you choose the right time and the right day to get married, or when you move houses, when you move office, you will choose the right time and right day to move. Hence, you will create the best energy in this aspect.

Next, what Qi Men can do for you is based on the adjustment of the Feng Shui. Feng shui has been around for thousands of years. Qi Men Dun Jia is able to adjust, take away, and put things in terms of different colors. The energy that creates within your house, the office, vicinity, or even your room will help you have a better outcome in your life. This is how powerful Qi Men Dun Jia can be.

In terms of the modding usage of Qi Men Dun Jia, a lot of politicians use Qi Men Dun Jia to decipher information and predict the outcome of elections. Of course, in business decisions, investments, stock markets, and even marriage, relationships, life, major decisions, career, academics, and so on and so forth. The application for Qi Men Dun Jia can be very vast depending on how you use it. Of course, there are always people using it in minor details, you know, whether to go to this company to work or some very minor things. However, in my context, I would rather use this for more important decisions.

This is a Qi Men Dun Jiar chart:

It is actually a mobile application that you can download from the mobile apps store. From there, you just key in the information on a specific time and date based on the question that you asked. or the birthday of the person. The information will actually be collated and translated into all these symbols. It is very systematic information and translation. Every symbol will actually give you information about the question that you asked, the personality of the person, and so on and so forth. Every individual symbol gives you specific information, and every combination of symbols also gives you specific information. Where the symbol is actually located, whether it is black or red, and how it is interrelated to one another also tells you certain information. So, all this interrelated information gives us a very comprehensive and holistic view of the situation, the solution, and even sometimes the possible answer. It is a very powerful tool for Qi Men Dun Jia to be used in many places.

To be honest, not many people are able to really learn Qi Men Dun Jia because it is such a complicated subject. However, at my end, I will try to make it as simplified as possible, so that anybody will be able to use them for their daily application, for their life, and for a certain major decision. They can use it to make better decisions so that their lives will be much smoother. This is the whole idea of Qi Men Dun Jia. This is the very gist of what Qi Men Dun Jia is. In the following lesson, I will actually share with you far much more in terms of the history, the application, and the case study, and maybe one day, you will be able to learn Qi Men, become one of my students, and be able to make your life even much better compared to now.

Hello, welcome to Qi Men Dun Jia lesson 2.

Today we are going to share things related to the basic application of Qi Men Dun Jia in your daily lives. Today’s lesson is going to be very simple, we just touch base only and it is just a matter of basic illustration on how it is going to work. I will not be going into the details of every single step. So, at the end of the day, this is just an overview of how the application is going to work for Qi Men Dun Jia.

There will be four applications in this Qi Men Dun Jia:

  • The first one is related to prediction and forecasting plus solutions. Qi Men Dun Jia can give you a prediction of what is going to happen, and forecast what is going to happen, and whether it is good or bad. There will be solutions available within the chart to showcase the information.
  • Secondly, we also touch based on things related to Bazi reading on the person’s character and if the life is not so great, there are problems, we can also be provided certain solutions to that.
  • Thirdly, we will talk about date selection on choosing the right time to do things, so that things will be much smoother.
  • We also touch base a little bit on this Feng Shui adjustment, meaning that the Feng Shui of the houses, the office, or anywhere that you are working. We can actually adjust the information and the energy over there.

The application for Qi Men Dun Jia forecasting, prediction, plus solutions. I will give you a standard chart to see and give you a verbal explanation, and very simplified prediction on specific things. This is Qi Men Dun Jia chart:

Assuming that this is the time that is plotted: June 27, 1987, at 19:30.

The question depends on what the person is, who the person is. There can be any question that they ask. For example, the question is: will this business investment be good?

So, using the Qi Men chart, I will actually give you an illustration on whether the investment is going to be good. In this Qi Men Dun Jia divination or prediction, we are able to see this is “Geng”:

“Geng” is actually a general answer. So, we see at box number 8 where “Geng” is.

We have “Life”, “Darkness”, and “Advisor”. Generally speaking, this box is all red, meaning that it is more or less positive. However, because this box has a zero sign (circle sign), it means the energy in box number 8 is not strong. It will go from 80% all the way down to 20% to 30%, meaning that I have to make reference from box number 2:

This is the general final answer. There is “Death”, “9Earth”, and “Doctor”. We also have a Horse in this box, which also signifies something. It means most of the energy will be concentrated in box number 2 with defense as a “Death”. If any question is related to “Death”, it is the worst situation in general. Although of course there are also other boxes we need to take into consideration, we can roughly say that the question of investment will not be very successful. Of course, this is just the overview of it. You must understand that this is not the final answer. This is just based on prediction and forecasting.

At the same time, because this is a “Death” situation which is not a good situation, there are also symbols within other boxes to tell you what you can do to make this thing even better . I mean, the investment is bad, the outcome is bad, but there are symbols within the other boxes that are going to produce or counter depending on how you are able to decipher the information and plan certain things or actions to make the things even better. So, there are always solutions within the chat to give you a specific solution to this bad outcome.

Bazi reading is something related to understanding the person’s character, the life of the person likely to happen. I give you the same illustration of this person who was born on June 27, 1987, at 19:30:

What is this character? We can based on the Day stem, which is “Ding”:

So, box number 9 and box number 3 are the characters. Box number 7 is also the character of the person. Every single symbol tells us a specific range of characters. Technically, this person has 9 sets of character, which is considered a little bit more because most people have 6 sets of character. Of course, people who are more focused will only have 3 sets of character. The worst scenario is that you will have a chaos set of different characters that could be called a multiple personality. It is not really a great thing, but everybody has their own chart to signify certain things. Within the 9 boxes, every one of them symbolizes things like your career, your relationship, your wealth, your business, your indirect wealth, so on and so forth. For example, “Partner” is your relationship, “Life” is your profit, your business or your direct wealth, “Open” is your career.

The interrelationship with yourself is in box number 3, box number 7, and box number 9. Whether their elements produce, in harmony, or clash will signify certain things. This is the basic idea of this Qi Men Dun Jia Bazi reading, we are able to precisely get the information of the person’s character, their life, their wealth, their health, etc. From that, when things are not good, every box will tell you how to move all this information around to change your life. It can be changed. A lot of Bazi readers or Bazi masters say that your life is fixed, but in Qi Men Dun Jia, there are ways to do it. I am able to shift certain things or shift certain characters in such a way that there are specific strategies and applications to to change your character, your life for the better.

This is very powerful and advanced that not many people are able to do because this is something which I created for the last few years.

Date  selections mean that you choose a specific date or specific time to do certain things.

This is a 19:30 that means 7:30 p.m but within the nine boxes, it is actually break down into specific minutes:

Of course, you are not able to see based on the chart. It is only for people who understand the chart will understand every single box which represents specific minutes.

Why do we do that in terms of date selections?

Because when we want to move house, get married, or send a proposal quotation to a company, choosing the right date will actually increase your chances of success. I mean, there are people who say that it is superstitious, but at the end of the day, if it works, it is good for you. If it does not work, it is okay because, at the end of the day, as long as you create the best energy for the best outcome, how worse can it be. So, it is a matter of creating the best environment and the best energy for it. That is the idea that we do not use superstition to overwhelm everything. If it works for you, it is good for you.

Having said that, we think of it as a guide, we do not put 100% focus on it. I mean, we take it like 70% to 80%. If it works, it is able to help you to a certain extent. I believe it can make a lot of differences compared to if you do not have anything to take reference from.

Feng Shui adjustment is a more complex subject. But eventually, I still use the same chart to apply based on the question by the user, what are they looking for?

For example, box number 1 is the marriage box. If the marriage is not good, we can do certain things on the specific different boxes, probably change the colors of the items, not from Feng Shui items but from decorative items like paintings or even toys, or something that does not cost you a lot of fortune. A small adjustment will create a particular energy to push it even better. This is something that is far more complex, and I would not want to talk too much about it because it will be in another lesson.

These are some of the four applications related to this Qi Men Dun Jia, and this is a very brief overview. In my next few lessons, I will actually touch on it and, when possible, be very specific about the case study, the history, or the application of it. Thanks for reading.

Today, lesson number 3, we will talk about Heaven, Earth, and Man.

Before we study Qi Men Dun Jia, or any Chinese metaphysics, we must understand the basic logic of Heaven – Earth – Man.

Because when you misinterpret the basic information about Heaven – Earth – Man, or Qi Men Dun Jia, or Bazi, or any other Chinese metaphysics, you will not be able to fully understand the logic that is hidden. It is very important to understand Heaven – Earth – Man. Once you understand the whole cosmic relationship, you will be able to see the gist of everything, and everything will make sense. So, for beginners, if you want to know about this Qi Men Dun Jia, Heaven – Earth – Man is the thing that you need to know, you need to understand the concepts. Let me explain to you what every single category of Heaven – Earth – Man really stands for and what implications it has in your life.

Heaven luck equates to the time that you are born and the things that are fixed and cannot be changed.

Earth luck equates to the environment where you are born. For example, you are in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, the US, or the UK. Whatever country you are born in or the specific city that you are born in, there will be some differences.

Man luck equates to the activities or actions that you take or do not take.

So, these are the gists of Heaven luck, Earth luck, and Man luck. In short, we call it Heaven – Earth – Man.

In detail, Heaven in Chinese we call “Tian Shi – 天时” is the time that we are born. It is Destiny and DNA we had, which cannot be changed. It is predetermined, which is our birthday, our parents, our grandfather, our siblings, etc. All of them are fixed and cannot be changed.

Heaven is also 50% fate when you are born (early heaven) that cannot be changed. Late heaven, which is after you are born, is 50% luck and can be changed to a certain extent.

Earth means the country, city, and family we are born into. It is also the environment that we are in. For example, if you live in Hong Kong, Singapore, or a better environment, things will apparently change. Even if you go to company A or B, things will change. We call them environmental factors.

Earth also talks about the workplace, the career or business that you are in, the industry that you are in, the location, and the direction that you are going in terms of life. Of course, it can be adjusted based on something like Feng Shui to create the energy. And this factor can be changed.

Man talks about the activities we do, the action we take or do not take. Of course, the more knowledgeable you are, the more culture you learn, the religious you are in, the better people you mixed with, the better your environment can be. It is also your beliefs on certain things. It can be controlled 100%.

Man also equates your character which is input in your Bazi , the karma that you do (the more good things you do, the better things will come back to your turn), the virtues that you are creating, how much you are educated, how hardworking you are, the actions and activities that you do.

The outcome of your life, your Bazi, or even the usage of Qi Men Dun Jia, is not equally divided into 33.33% of Heaven, Earth, and Man. If you focus your energy on the main part, it will be 50%. But of course, having said that, Heaven cannot be changed, the Earth can be changed, and Man can be changed. It means you can actually control most parts of your life to be in a better situation if you choose to be. A lot of people think that their lives are fixed. I mean, they are not wrong if they believe that things will just carry on to what is created in their Bazi. From there, things will not go well. But if they think because the Earth side and the Man side can change, there is a very high chance they can take things in the best direction and create a good situation.

This is the basic logic of Heaven – Earth – Man. Why is it so important? Because a lot of people think that when they do the divination in Qi Men Dun Jia, when they do a Bazi reading, it equates to an absolute result. No, it is not going to be like that. There is no such thing as 100%. Qi Men Dun Jia or Bazi reading is so powerful, it is correct, but it is not 100% absolute. It means you have the ability to change things if you choose to. So, this is so important that a lot of people just take it for granted whenever it is spread by the Qi Men Dun Jia masters or the Bazi reading masters. When you learn these Chinese metaphysics, the Heaven – Earth – Man is not fixed, and you are able to change it for your life. It is really important. That is why I emphasize it so much.

Today, I am going to share with you what Ying & Yang are.

Ying & Yang is a form of representation for certain categories of information. Let’s look at what Ying & Yang stand for in this lesson for Qi Men Dun Jia.

Ying represents:

  • Dark, passive and feminine.
  • Light, bright, active, Night.
  • Right, white, back, Moon.
  • Negative, death. When you talk about Ying, most people will talk about the cemetery, where people have died, even if this is related to the situation in the barrier.

Yang stands for the opposite extreme:

  • Day, bright, Life.
  • Male, black, front.
  • Sun, energy.
  • Positive side

YING & YANG – About Balancing

If you see Ying & Yang, they are actually the 2 extreme sides of the comparison. We have the male and the female, the positive and the negative, the life and the death.

Ying & Yan being young are about balancing. What is balancing?

If a person is too Ying or a person is too Yang, that is kind of extreme. In the law of metaphysics, we have to understand that it is always about balancing. If you are too much Ying, you have to push down your Ying to make it more balanced, you have to add a bit more Yang to make it more balanced. If you have too much Yang, you have to add a little bit more Ying to make your Yang lower. That is something called “balancing”.

You need to understand this basic concept about Ying & Yang and about balancing.

YING & YANG – About Energy

Both Ying & Yang have energy whether it  is good energy or bad energy, that is another story. We also must understand that the energy that emits out in every Ying & Yang represents certain positive or certain negative energy.

YING & YANG – About Bazi

When we talk about Ying & Yang Bazi, what does it really mean?

For example, when a person’s character is very good, you also have to understand that particular character within the good character, there is also an element of negative character. You have to understand that in this concept of whiteness, there is also a darkness inside. In every darkness, there is also a white inside. In every male, there is also a feminine inside. In every female, there is also a male side in them. You have both of the same things. Sometimes it is a little bit more, sometimes it is a little bit less.

YING & YANG – About Feng Shui

This applies to Feng Shui also. Feng shui is in metaphysics. Ying & Yang also apply in the vicinity or the surroundings. You have to base it on Feng Shui to say it is more Ying or more Yang. Most of the Feng Shui, especially in the house, we try to look for Yang, more energy of Yang. If you have more energy of Ying, it is actually more deemed, darker and it will create more bad energy for the person that is living in that place or even the office. If you have too much Ying energy, it would not be good for the business too.

To be honest, in Qi Men Dun Jia, it is always about balancing. When you are balanced in a certain way, you are able to get the things done, make your life even easier and smoother. That is the idea.

In this context, if you talk about Bazi, you have to have a balanced Ying & Yang, a balance of the character, you cannot have too extreme one of a character. It will not be good for you. This is the idea.

Let us go through one chart, and then we will be able to see what it really means by Ying & Yang. I am going to be very brief on this. I am not going to go into the details. I just want to share the concept with you.

If you see this particular Qi Men Dun Jia chart, there are many different symbols:

Every box has three symbols. And then, there are 2 different characters besides. We only focus on 3 symbols in box number 4. If you can see, they are red and black in color. Generally speaking, red stands for “good.”

At the end of the day, within the box, every symbol represents specific information or even a specific divination or character of the person.

Let’s presume that, in box number 4, “Open” (Kai Men) is a symbol that represents a person’s character. Basically, this person is a very cheerful person. He (or she) is able to open up the network to more people.

But at the same time, this person also has another side of the character that may not be so good. You must understand that although the “Open” symbol is red (it means “good”), beneath the symbol of red, there is also an element of not-so-great things.

This is one of the concepts of Ying & Yang that I want to share with you. Some people may not agree, but this is something that you need to know: in every good, there is a bad; in every bad, there is a good.

For example, in box number 8, there is Si Men (Death), which is the worst character or the worst symbol in Qi Men Dun Jia. But if you want to use this symbol for this ceremony in this barrier, you know, go to the cemetery, this will definitely be a good sign.

Hence, it is wrong to say that every symbol is bad. It depends on the situation of how you apply it. This is the information related to Ying & Yang for this lesson.

Welcome to Qi Men Dun Jia. This is Dougles Chan.

Today, we are going to talk about a very interesting topic called “bad Bazi chart”.

There are a lot of people who have gone through many Feng Shui masters or Bazi consultants who mentioned that you may have a bad Bazi chat and your life will be very bad. I would like to advise that there is no such thing as a bad Bazi chart in the eyes of Qi Men Dun Jia because life is full of different things. You have to understand that when a person says your Bazi is bad, it does not mean that every part of your life is bad. Let me give you an illustration on why I said that there is not a bad Bazi for you.

This is a chart of a random person that I generated. At first glance, let me share with you why the situation may not be so fantastic for this person:

So, where is this person in the chart? – The person is “Bing”.

“Bing” person is usually full of passion for Fire, which means this is an enthusiastic person. Let’s locate where this person is. He is located in box number 2:

If you look at the symbols surrounding box number 2, these are all the characters. He (or she) has a lot of problems, obstacles, and he (or she) worries too much. Basically, it is not really a very good character in this aspect. However, you also have to take note that this is a circle which means “Emptiness”.

That means he will have an additional character in box number 8:

He is a friendly, reliable person, and he can speak very well in terms of salesmanship.

From this particular surface, we see that it is a bad character, but if you look deeper, you will see that he actually has a double character. On top of that, we see that all this information relating to the symbols is all the same, which is called a Fuyin chart:

A Fuyin chart is for somebody who is super stubborn, many times more stubborn compared to many other people. He (or she) got his own principle in doing things. It is not really fantastic. However, let me show you more things because there is “Open” in box number 8:

“Open” means that he will have a lot of opportunities in terms of career, which is alongside the Earth element. That means he will have plenty of good careers in his life although his character is bad (he always worries, always has problems, always creates issues, always has his own personality, and he is very stubborn). He will have a lot of good opportunities.

And look at the marriage sign over here, which is Liu He (Partner – 六合) :

He (or she) will have a very good relationship with people, their partners, their spouse. It is going to be very great for him (or her). In this aspect, we also have a “life”, which is a profit. It is also very good, if he wants to go into business, the likelihood that he will make a lot of business in terms of partnership and good profit.

So, based on some examples over here, in every aspect of your life in Bazi, there are always good things and bad things. Always remember that it is a matter of how you look at it from anger and how you amplify the good things in your life. From there, we find certain aspects of solutions to make your life even better. Once we know that our character is bad in a certain way, we are a bit more mindful of it and understand our character better. Then, when things happen, you are able to choose to react on a more positive note rather than your normal character.

Always remember that there is no such thing as a bad Bazi, but there is a way to make a bad Bazi even better. I hope you understand what is called a “bad Bazi chart.” Thanks for reading.

Welcome to lesson 5 of this Qi Men Dun Jia. Hi, my name is Dougles Chan.

Today, we will talk about the topic called “8 trigrams”. Some people call it “Bagua” which is in Chinese translation.

8 trigrams is actually a derivative of Ying & Yang. Based on the last lesson – lesson 4, you can understand what Ying & Yang stand for. So, if you do not understand Ying & Yang, please go to lesson 4 and then you can understand the concept of Ying & Yang before proceeding to lesson 5.

First, you must understand what 8 trigrams are and how they are derived. Previous lesson, we talked about Ying & Yang, so this particular circle with two dots and a curve represents the extreme of Ying & Yang:

White color stands for Yang, and black stands for Ying. Having mentioned about Ying & Yang in last lesson, in every Yang, there is Ying; in every Ying, there is also Yang. It is not very extreme, so you must understand this concept before we actually proceed further.

Next, we need to understand where Ying & Yang are and what 8 trigrams are going to do in terms of the relationship. We will go step by step in this chart and we will actually break it down in this aspect.

We talk about the Ying & Yang, so we break it down into two parts: Yin – Yang.

Within the Yin, we break it into Tai Yin and Shao Yang. Within the Yang, we break it into Shao Yin and Tai Yang.

In Tai Yin, we break it into Kun and Gen. In Shao Yang, we break it into Kan and Xun.

In Shao Yin, we break it into Zhen and Li. In Tai Yang, we break it into Dui and Qian.

In this lesson, we will define every one of them to understand the characteristics of these particular trigrams. In Chinese, we also call these 8 trigrams “Bagua”.

When we break down all the Ying & Yang into multiple levels, in the final level, we will break down into a total of eight different symbols:

Every one of them has their own name and meaning/ You may take a while to remember all these symbols. You need to understand every symbol represents certain things and certain meanings.

8 trigrams are actually formulated to the circle of this Ying & Yang, so this becomes a Bagua:

Always remember that this Bagua traditionally has nothing to do with religion.

A lot of people think that this Bagua is something related to Chinese taoism. Yes, there are some relationships, but in terms of religion by right, it should not be. It is just based on the X and from there, we derive the trigrams and the Ying & Yang.

Next, we will insert a few more pieces of information to know what every one of them stands for:

Every single trigram will have its own name and a specific meaning.

We move along, how do these trigrams have to do with Qi Men Dun Jia?

If you look at this chart very carefully, all the symbols at the left corner of every box are Xun, Li, Kun, Dui, Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen.  It is all located in every external box. The center is empty, so the 8 symbols are evenly spread in different places

For your information, the places that they are located are always the same. For example, Kan is located in box number 1, in Qi Men Dun Jia, it will always be located in box number 1. It will never change. So on and so forth for the rest of the symbols.

We move on box number 4 for the purpose of your clarity:

This is Xun. Remember that the Bagua is a symbol of the environment. So, the environment in box number 4 represents certain things. And all the symbols (Darkness, Open, Doctor) also represent certain information.

So the information located in box number 4 (Xun) represents the environment. When you talk about Qi Men Dun Jia on your divination and Qi Men Dun Jia Bazi, we are able to decipher this information. For example, if they are in box number 4, it represents the Xun.

Let’s go to the next box which is “Li” and  stands for Fire:

So, the environment will be Fire. We also have to see the interrelationship between the symbol, the element, and the environment. That is how we derive the certain information about the person’s character, situation, and the divination results.

Today’s lesson, we are going to touch very basic trigram information. As we go along, we will base on and integrate all this information together to ensure that you have a more holistic view of what Qi Men Dun Jia is and how to apply Qi Men Dun Jia in this aspect.

Going back into this trigram:

I am going to go through them one by one to share with you the basic information. Of course, it will be very in-depth. I do not want to overwhelm you. Eventually, you have to just understand the basics. It will be good enough.

This is symbolized as Kun, which is located in box 2 and consists of three broken lines. It means earth or land. It is all Yin. Yin is actually dark and black and it actually represents a female also. Kun is also the queen of a country. For the family, it is the mother.

Gun is located in box 8 and consists of one unbroken line with two broken lines It also represents a mountain and can imply the hardness and firmness.

Kan is located in box 1 and consists of one broken line, one unbroken line, and one broken line after. It can also represent a sunken area, water or an obstacle. It is something that is blocking you also. For example, if a small river, then your two legs are actually stuck in there. The environment is a place where you are stuck inside where you are not able to move at all.

Kun is located in box 4 and consists of two unbroken lines and one broken line. It also implies a wind. It is a very windy situation. What does wind stand for? It is moving, it is not not strong. Compared to the previous (you are stuck in the river or stuck in a hole), this windy environment is far far much better.

Zhen is located in box 3 and consists of two broken lines and one unbroken line. It stands for thunder, shock, or terror. A thunder environment is a good meaning. It is very fast. Suddenly, it will just happen. If you are in this situation, apparently this event or situation is going to happen very fast. Of course, when it is very fast, after a while, it disappears. Again, whether it is good or bad, it also depends on how you apply it in different situations.

LI is located in box 9 and consists of one unbroken line, one broken line, and one unbroken line. It stands for Fire.

Dui is located in box 7 and consists of one broken line and two unbroken lines. It means speech or to speak. In this environment, you need to speak or you need to give speeches. Of course, it depends on how you apply the situation to the environment in box number 7 which is called “Dui”.

Qian is located in box 6 and consists of three unbroken lines. It signifies Heaven. It is all Yang. For a country, it is the head of state. For a family, it is the father of this person. Generally speaking, it should be quite good in this aspect. But of course, remember the concept of Ying & Yang: in every good, there is a bad; in every bad, there is a good. So, in this aspect, when it is all Yang, it does not mean that it is all Yang. It depends on how you are going to apply it in this situation.

Let us see or go back to the Qi Men chart:

There is Xun, Li, Kun, Dui, Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen in the external of these boxes in these 9 palaces. 8 trigrams are input into these 9 palaces. Box number 5 is actually an empty box. Do not have to worry about too much of it. We are only covering the very basics of it.

Interestingly, these 8 trigrams are used in a lot of places in China to create a picture or an environment for their houses. As you can see in this particular picture:

This is a field of plantation and interestingly, they use the Bagua to make it look exactly the same. They believe that using this form will help them. Of course, there are other places using the same philosophy and using the Bagua also. There is also a big city that actually uses Bagua and 8 trigrams to create the shape of that energy:
